Calling All Active Nevada Estheticians & Cosmetologists

If you’re an active Esthetician or Cosmetologist practicing in Nevada, you need to know about Senate Bill 291. On June 4th, 2021 the Governor of Nevada approved a new bill which requires all active “Estheticians and Cosmetologists” to complete a 75 Hour Laser Course in order to offer the services below as an “Advanced Esthetician”. The newly segregated services that do not require a Physician, Physician’s Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) are galvanic current, ultrasonic skin scrubbers, microcurrent, LED, fibroblast, nano-needling, microneedling, microchanneling, cavitation, cryotherapy, body contouring, body sculpting, and vacuum therapy.

Why Do You Need This 75 Hour Laser Course?

Currently, as of today the only services you can offer legally as an “Esthetician” are lash extensions, lash or brow lifts, facials, hydra facials, makeup, wax and sugaring, microdermabrasion, salt or sugar scrub body treatments, body wraps, high frequency, dermaplaning, extractions, superficial exfoliation, and enzyme peels or masks. Any service that removes living tissue requires the supervision of a healthcare professional (Physician, Physician’s Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse). The current bill allows all “Advanced Estheticians” to become grandfathered into this new law as long as they are licensed before October 31st, 2023. If you aren’t licensed by this date you will have to go back to school for an additional 300 hours to become an “Advanced Esthetician”.
